Hands-on R Workshop

Warsaw, Poland – Members of the Mass Spectrometry Facility (MSF) at The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) co-organized an introductory workshop on the R programming language for Warsaw researchers.

The Data Carpentry workshop, entitled “Data Analysis and Visualization in R“, was aimed at PhD students and researchers with little to no prior computational experience. Participants learned not only how to perform analyses, but also how to make their work automated and reproducible. Such skills are increasingly essential for the analysis of complex datasets, including LC-MS data.

The Carpentries is an international organization that teaches foundational coding and data science skills to researchers. Its courses emphasize practical, immediately applicable skills, enabling participants to quickly apply what they learn to their own work. This year’s workshop was the fifth iteration in Warsaw, with many more hopefully to come.

The two-day hands-on workshop, attended by participants from institutions across Warsaw was held at the IIMCB. It was led by Sandra Binias (Nencki Institute), Aleksander Jankowski (University of Warsaw), and Vanessa Linke (IIMCB), with support from Kacper Kaszuba (IMol PAS), Maciej Ołdak (Nencki Institute), and Linda Maina, Zuzanna Grochowska, and Marcin Tymiński (all IIMCB).

More information about The Carpentries and future workshops can be found on their website. Additional details about this event are available on the workshop webpage.
