Expansion with second high-end instrument platform

Warsaw, Poland – The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) has further strengthened its Mass Spectrometry Facility (MSF) with the installation of a second cutting-edge instrument setup, marking a major step toward establishing a multi-platform environment for state-of-the-art multi-omics.

The newly installed instrument setup comprises the Thermo Excedion Pro BioPharma mass spectrometer with FAIMS and ETD capabilities coupled to the Vanquish Neo nano-LC system or, alternatively, a Vanquish Horizon UHPLC system. Together, this setup offers exceptional versatility, enabling high-resolution analyses across a wide range of analytes and applications.

These state-of-the-art acquisitions, financed through the Polish Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), complement the previously installed Bruker timsUltra system and position the MSF as one of ten core facilities within IN-MOL-CELL, IIMCB’s integrated infrastructure that provides access to advanced technologies for both academic and industrial users.

“With the addition of this second platform, we can now tailor workflows to specific biological questions, from deep proteome profiling to targeted PTM and intact protein analyses,” said Dr. Linke, head of the MSF. “In particular, ETD enables alternative fragmentation strategies, while UHPLC allows for robust small molecule analysis.”

The Mass Spectrometry Facility is expected to launch services in mid-2026, initially focusing on bottom-up proteomics, with ongoing expansion into advanced applications such as interactomics, crosslinking proteomics, PTM analysis, as well as metabolomics and lipidomics.

We encourage both academic and industrial partners to engage with us early in their project planning,” Dr. Linke added. “This allows us to design optimal workflows and fully leverage the capabilities of these complementary platforms.”
